What is an RSS feed?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a web format basically used to
allow a website to create a list of common items logically grouped
together by subject, author, category, etc. Each item has a title (or headline) that is a link
to the web page that contains the full information about the item. Each item also includes a
description or summary of the content, and may include images, audio, video, etc.
An RSS feed can be "subscribed" to using
an "RSS aggregator". They can also be used to add dynamic content to other
web pages, such as My Yahoo! or Google homepages, that collect web content from various
places and group it together for the subscriber.
The Vanessa E. News and Podcasts RSS feed will contain an entry for each news item
we publish, each podcast that Vanessa E. does, and also will contain an entry that gives the
date of the next Vanessa E. show or event.
If you use FireFox 2.0 or above, you can subscribe to an RSS feed as a LiveBookmark, which
will allow you to have a bookmark that will reflect the current contents of the RSS feed,
without having to go to the website first.
